Neil and I had a few hours at home alone recently - it felt fun and we took the opportunity to plunder our full 'Dad's Overseas Odyssey' money tin and count it up. We've been adding to it with one and two dollar coins and fifty cent pieces, (along with the occasional note), since the children gave it to Neil on Fathers' Day a while ago. Eventually it will help us go tripping again! Neil is funny - he loves to put money in each day, and often contrives to get as much change as possible when he shops! We have started a new tin, but meanwhile...
Can you guess how much is there??
We've counted, and are wondering who can best guess the correct amount. What do you think?
Now wait is this money going towards coming and seeing the Hamptons???? If so you have enough now so come visit ha ha ha :)
ReplyDeletewell in American money I would say$800.00
$1001.50 Money tins are always fun to open. We generally can't wait until they are completely full to open ours.
ReplyDeleteJill, we would so much love to come and visit the Hamptons! But I can tell you that it's not enough yet. (In Aus $ your guess equals $1,023.49) Jessima, is that your guess or Jonny's? Or combined?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking there should be a prize for this......
:) xo
The guess is Jessima's!! Am I close?
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying yet Jessima!
ReplyDeleteDoes Jonny have a guess?
Everyone seems so optimistic. I would have said about...acctually, I just looked at the photo again and i would say about $997.65

ReplyDeleteOh if I guess correctly can I keep the money? hehe
ReplyDeleteThank you for your suggestion Kaili. No :)
ReplyDeleteBut there will be something....
Do you have a guess??
xo
I would have to say.... that the amount of money is the exact amount that was in the tin when you opened it and is therefore.... ummm .... $1637.85 ??? *hopeful look*
ReplyDeletewell before i make a guess i would like to get a some information straight:
ReplyDelete1. when we gave you the tin, was there money in it already? and if so, how much was it and in what form did it come it? (cash? cheque?)
2. Last time you had a tin, when you saved up for your america trip, how much was in it when you opened it?
If you could provide this information it would be greatly appreciated. my answer will follow shortly thereafter :)
much loving!!!
bethy
I'm going low, on the off chance that everyone else is wrong :) $890
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible at these!
No, wait, I'm going high. $1,200. That's my guess.... I think...
Bethany's pretty good at guessing things and winning trophies though... are you going to answer her questions?!
xo Tammy
PS. What's the prize? Maybe I'd guess better if I knew what the prize was...
I had a friend at work who saved coins in a bottle...and I think she said when it was full they had around $75...just enough for a nice dinner in a fancy restaurant.
ReplyDeleteAm I close?
Bethany, no way :) xo
ReplyDeleteTammy, ditto.
And didn't your mother teach you that if something was worth doing, it was worth you giving it your best? (read here 'regardless of the prize') I'm sure she did :)
Charrette, haha that sounds good, but how did they get the money out..
I will tell you that you are on the low side. But Hi! :)
Jonny guesses $1324
ReplyDeleteAbby guesses $2800! I reckon you have heaps :) I always lose these things though, I wonder what part of the brain guessing how many 'things' are in a 'thing comes under. Why do I lack that part? How do I get it back?? This as actually quite a disturbing subject now that I've begun along it... I hope it's heaps! Europe calls!!! :) xo
ReplyDeleteJessima has decided to change her guess. I reckon their is $2057.50 Possibly there is more in their then what we all think.
ReplyDeleteYou're tough mum.
ReplyDeleteOkies, i guess an even $1000 :)
And im only good at winning the jars full of chocolates. i have more motivation :D:D:d
