Arrival at the Grand Canyon

This is now officially a travel blog!

We are at the Grand Canyon, having arrived yesterday at the LA airport at 6.45am on Tuesday, (the day we left home at 12.30pm), then travelled to Las Vegas by plane, then on to the Hoover Dam by hire car. By the time we finally hit the pillows last night at about 7.30pm, we were so tired that we slept through until fairly late this morning. Dad was up at 7am; I dragged myself up at 8am, and we beat the boys up until they finally rose at about 10am.

Boarding the Qantas Jumbo from Brisbane we passed the business class seats on the way in (I overheard Oliver behind me saying, "sweet!" before he realized those weren't our seats :) before heading to almost the back seats of the plane. We had forgotten how cramped it could be! I managed about 2 -3 hours all up, and I don't think that Neil or the boys did much better. It was a long trip, but would have been much longer if we were swimming, so... :)

The Dam would have been really good if we weren't still so tired. All any of us secretly wanted to do was to snuggle into a comfy bed! It was interesting though.

Leaving our hotel this morning so late, we have arrived here in the dark, so we'll push the boys out the door to see the 'big hole in the ground' first thing in the morning. The nights come early here, and dawn is not until about 7am, so we don't want to waste too much time.

I only have a moment left before my time runs out! So I'd better tell you the important things:

We are fine. We love you. :) Write soon!!
xoxoxo

Have seen lots of cars riding along with no-one in the driver's seat.... strange and a little frightening! :)

  1. We are glad to hear you have arrived safe and sound. I laughed out loud when I read the bit about Oliver. I could just see it happening. Make sure you take lots of pictures. You are going to have a blast. Hopefully jet lag won't be with you. That would be tough, especially when you want to fill your days.

To see what we have been doing, you can check out our blog. I am writing a daily entry. If I don't I will forget what we have done.

    Keep having fun!

Love Jonny and Jessima and Jenna xxxx

  2. You're alive!!! Glad to hear from you! Was hanging out with Tammy last night and we wondered when you'd pop up and let us know :) I'm glad you flew to vegas - I thought you were driving, and was afraid none of you had had enough sleep! I hope Dad knows enough about driving over there to recognise the whole cars without drivers thing as what it is! I'm glad you seem to have driven safely to the Grand Canyon in the night time without falling right in! I have to go to school, but we love you heaps and heaps, hope you are having a fabulous time!! Hope the hole impresses the twins, and that nobody falls in. I am with Dad - stay away from the edge! I will not speak for James or Mum here lol. Can't wait to hear from you again, hope you are having a blast!! Your granddaughter is only 8 weeks away toaday (if on time..) :) xoxoxox Love you all!! :) xo

  4. So I didn't get what you meant by lots of cars without drivers...Tammy had to explain it to me. But now I get it and yes, that was very funny mum!
So I totally didn't expect you to have written on your blog yet, so sorry for the late comment :)
I'm glad you are all happy and well! Sorry about not getting much sleep on the plane :( Mum, you didn't end up getting sick did you? I hope not!
I love you all and am excited to hear more!
Don't worry, the Fort back here is in good hands :) :P
    Love you!
