Well here we are in Rigby. It is Tuesday morning 11am-ish and Sandy and Renae have gone ........... you guessed it ................SHOPPING!!!!!
It's OK, they have just gone to get a few things before we leave to go to Yellowstone Park.
What was that? What do you mean, "Define - 'few things'," A few things is just a couple of things, right? I mean they will only be gone for an hour or so, right?? I should have got some clarification on that hey. Oh well, I mean How long can it take. A few things.................
Anyway we had a big travel day on Saturday. We left New Yor at 9am (7am Idaho time) and arrived at the Hampton at 10.30pm. We got into Salt Lake at about 1.30pm We got the car and had a coupkle of small stops and at three we were on our way for a 3 hour drive. By the time we got to Logan Utah it started to rain and a bit later that turned to snow which we thought was fun. But then it kept snowing and pretty soon we noticed that the traffic was not keeping up with it and snow was staying on the road with biteumen tracks where tyres would be. Then of course the traffic started to slow right down. I was glad of that but we drove through this snow storm all they way to Pocotello (spelling) Just s few mile short actually. So we drove for over 100 miles (160klms) at between 25 and 35 miles per hour. It was real white knuckle stuff. I kept finding myself all tensed up and then having to relax, and then I found myself all tensed up againg and so it went on and on. Then about 5 or 6 miles short of Poccatello there was no snow and the roads were clear. We stopped there to ring and tell everyone that we were alive. it was about 7.15pm and we were supposed to be to the hamptons at 5-ish.
Bruce gave us some directions and we went to Blackfoot where we got more specific directions from Bruce like, When you come through Idaho Falls "stay on the highway" meaning "don't get off the highway". Not in my defence it was snowing and the road was white and signs were covered in snow so you couldn't read them much. anyway I got off the highway and in my defence it was following a sign that said "Rigby". Anyway we did get the scenic tour of Idaho Falls, allbeit at nighttime in a blizzard. Bruce was waing at a certain corner to meet us at 8.45pm and after getting some further directions we met him just after 10.15pm and then it was just a few minutes from their house. I told he needs some practice at giving intructions. Saying 'don't get off the highway' is a bit ambiguous.
Through all this Chickybabe was feeling pretty sick. We gave her a blessing on Sunday night that said she would sleep and then she would be better. We woke Monday morning and she had slept better but was feeling a lot worse. So much for my blessing i thought. So Renea took us to the doctors where a very nice doctor checked her out and gave her some medicines that have really helped and she began to feel immediately better. hence now she is out shopping. She is still not great but the medicine is really helping still to be able to do stuff. This arvo we are off to Yellowstone Park so i can'tt tell you about that yet.
Ut is so great to be at the Hamptons. They are so great and make us feel so welcome and at home. they just could not do more for us. it is so much fun to be with them. They say hi to everyone and want to know all about you. We tell them our version. In the video camera we had a disc that had some of Jason's trip to our place so we watched that on the computer. that was fun and we also watched te twins snowboarding video. You'll like that too.
Anyway gotta go get ready for our road trip to Yellowstone to wake up a few bears. Yesterday we all went to see the movie, 'Blindside', which we really enjoyed. New saying noe, 'Take him to the bus'.
Now Chickybabe asked that when you comment you need to tell us what you have been doing not just that you are all ok. We would like to know what you have been up to.
We love you all and miss you and will see you in just a few days. We are really looking forward to our last few days here but really looking forward to seeing you all again.
Love dad

now that trip sounds like th eon eKiet adn I took from north Montana to Idaho. A long drive in the snow but what aq beautiful landscape i was just fascintated by the snow covered power line and fences and trees Got lots of pictures of that. And in defence of road signs being covered by snow and [ice] I have proof of that too adn it really does play havoc with [poorly given] :-)[must always allow for the other right and left when giving directions to Munros] traffic directions to people who are use to driving on the correct side of the road without white outs etc. I wish Bec was there to see yu guys Eeverytime you talk about Rigby i go back to her place probably only minutes away given taht Rigby isnt exactly a metropolitan city.[mind you it is not far off with 2 sets of traffic lights. Glad all are safe adn having fun and I hope you continue to feel better Sandy. Looks like I beat all your kiddies. HAve really enjoyed taking the trip with you via the blog Thanks
ReplyDeleteWow, I would hate to drive in the snow. I think you did a great job there :) I'm glad that mum is doing better. Shopping is a wonderful cure :) Hope your trip to Yellowstone is fun and that you don't get eaten by any bears!!!
ReplyDeleteAn update on what we have been doing:
On Monday Jonny played golf with Steve Pitman and Steve Parrish and had lots of fun, while Jenna and I hung out with Cythnia and Cody. Yesterday I went and picked up our new pram, visited your household. Jonny went Home Teaching on the night. Tonight I am making (well I think just decorating) a gingerbread house as part of a RS activity. I am really excited because I have never done this before. I think today will be a cleaning/present making day.
Abby is kindly babysitting Jenna on friday so we can go to the Temple which is lovely. Hmmm, I think that is about it. I think you know the rest from when Jonny spoke to you on the phone.
Keep having fun,
Love Jessima, Jonny and Jenna.
P.S. Jenna says hi!!!
Hey Daddy!! :) Yay, you're in Rigby!! Except by now I guess you're probably up in Yellowstone, which was full of some of the most beautiful white scenes I've ever seen in my life and which I thought was amazing! So gorgeous! But anyway, glad you made it safely through the blizzard!! You're the man! :) And I'm glad Mama went to a kind doctor and has been shopping with Renae - all is as it should be :) Great to hear from you, hope you have a wonderful time in Jellystone!! :) xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteHey Dad! I wrote the essay in mum's post above (because I was trying to be the first to post... I can't believe abby beat me!), but I wanted to say a hi to you as well. I've only driven in snow a couple of times (usually I was the passenger) and yes - it's scary! :) I'm glad you got there safely - although I can't believe Bruce gave such terrible directions :) (totally got your back dad!)
ReplyDeleteWhat's this blindside movie everyone keeps talking about? I'll have to IMDB it I guess :)
Have a wonderful time at Yellowstone - I've actually never been there! Just don't stay too long. I know it will be deceivingly cold there, but it's sitting right on top of the worlds biggest volcano - so don't you forget it :)
Have a fabulous time - can't wait to see you! (please email us your flight details so someone can pick you up!)
