Missing you....

Mother here :)

I need to pack for the overnight trip to Yellowstone, but it just occurred to me that we probably won't have Internet use available there, so I wanted to say a quick 'Hi!!' to everyone, and to say thank you for your prayers. It was horrible not being able to breathe at all! I know I've been a bit bad at home sometimes, but this was worse and went on for a couple of days. I was so bad on Sunday night that I couldn't see how I would be able to sleep at all, except for the blessing, which helped me to sleep a few times, in between awakenings. But by the morning I was so tired and felt so bad that I asked to go to the medical centre. The doctor was great and gave me a steroid injection, a high dose steroid inhaler, antibiotics, and decongestants, enough to last until after I get home. I started feeling so much better almost straight away, came home and was able to nap for an hour at last, before we went to see the movie, 'Blind Side', which was great! A nine and a half according to Dad, Ben and me. Several times during the movie I just felt so grateful to be able to breathe at last - it made me feel how much we take so many things for granted.

I'm sorry if all that was terribly boring. Now on to something much less so - you! You are all writing that things are good, ok, etc., but no one is telling me much of what is really going on in your days. I'm starting to get suspicious! Would someone (every one would be wonderful :) please tell me what you are all doing? Nobody has mentioned what the drive-way work has been like, or if the cot has come, or what is happening with Robbie coming, or what you have been doing with your not-working-now days Abby, or if you have been bothered with rogue kangaroos, or what James has injured lately :), or what has been happening at work lately Tammy, or if the roof is leaking again, or how big Jessima is getting, or who you have had over for dinner recently, or how Bethany is spending her days, or if there have been any house fires recently, or car crashes - you know - the usual-but-I-want-details kind of things! Please. :)

I'm being asked to move along so that others can get on for emails etc.

We are missing you. We are having a great time, but we are missing you. I'm be glad to see you soon!

Love you all tonnes!

  1. Hey Mama!!!

I'm glad you put in a couple of little details of your doctor visit, etc., - now I feel better, not terribly boring at all!! I'm very grateful that you saw a doctor and that you're on steroids again :) James is considering getting on them too... lol. I haven't heard of 'Blind Side' but I'll get on a bus and go see it!

I felt bad sending you emails about our lives here when you're on your exciting trip so I stopped, but I can start again.

One thing you should be prepared for definitely, is your driveway. It's awful. So is the random square of turf they chucked on the bit of lawn they ripped up. It is truly an awful front of a house. Your driveway is half just powdery concrete (they laid it in the rain), and apparently they'll 'fix' it later. Don't worry about it yet - there'll be heaps of time later for that. And you should adopt a 'hakuna matata' attitude' towards it because they must be crazy to do what they did, so they maybe can't help it... if you take a step back and pretend it isn't your house (this wasn't as hard for me as it maaay be for you...), it's actually quite hilarious!!!

James hasn't broken AnYtHiNg!!! :) Bethany hasn't crashed because she's not allowed to drive! Tammy works too hard! I have been playing housewife to my heart's content :) Jessima is still not fat, I am obese.

So good to hear from you! Have fun enjoying the paradise that I thought Yellowstone was when I was there - such amazing, beautiful white landscapes it was hard to believe it was real!!!

    Love yoU!!! xoxoxoxoxox

  2. PART ONE
(turns out there's a limit to how many characters you can have in a comment... it's 4,096 words...)
Yay! I'm the first to comment! Take THAT siblings! lol :)
Mum! Lovely to hear from you. I'm and SO excited that you've now learnt that 'doctors can make you feel better', and that I can now say things like "but remember the time you went to the doctor in Rigby? And how much better you life was afterwards? This will be like that. Let's go now" :)
Okay, what's been up with us... Abby's finished school - she's very excited. She's also even huger than when you last saw her. I was staring at her tummy last night, and it's definitely still growing. That 'tiny' baby is 'huge' :) James has started working full time this week, but he's still going to find time to come over and take a look at my car. One of the hubcaps fell off (I may have driven too close to the curb while parking), and my number plate needs bending back into shape (someone backed into my car while it was parked and then drove off without leaving a note! I only know because someone saw it and told me!). And one of my tires is a little flat. I also noticed last night that there's no water for the windscreen wipers anymore. Which made me think it might be out of oil and other stuff too, since I haven't looked under the hood since I purchased it... James thinks he's going to 'show me how to do it all'... but really, he's just going to do it for me while I chat to Abby (shhh! don't tell him!).
I haven't seen too much of Jonny and Jessima, but I did see Jessima yesterday, and she said they're all doing good. I'll see Jessima on Thursday for my 'interview' too, so we'll catch up then.
I haven't seen Bec (although she's got a blog now!), but Micky's down and staying with us at the moment. He's studying hard, and it's 'just a coincidence' that I always happen to walk in while he's 'taking a break'... :) haha! I said that just to tease micky :)
Bethy's good. She has a dance practise for convention every 2 days for hours at a time! I think I can safely say that even Bethany is sick of them! I'm not sure what's happening about Robbie and the Christmas visit, but I'm sure she can fill you in when she gets around to commenting.
So that just leaves me. I'm just chugging along. I've taken a couple of days off work this week because I just wanted to take a break and try and get some Christmas shopping and house cleaning done! My evenings are really busy with Young Womens and Choral/music practises leading up to the Ward music sacrament meeting and Stake Music Fireside on Sunday. And my Saturdays are getting swallowed up with practises and Young Womens stuff (ie. We have to decorate the hall for the Christmas Party).
Will any of you be coming to the fireside on Sunday night? For the ward sacrament meeting, Abby and I are playing the viola, and Neville and I are singing, and (I think) Bethy will be playing the piano for Primary, and Abby and James are singing a song (They sound lovely, I was practising with them last night). For the stake music fireside I'm playing for a couple of choirs and singing in another choir (I have a solo with the choir) and playing a piano/viola duet with Abby which should be really nice. Hopefully a couple of you are able to make it, but see how you’re feeling. Gayle and Greg might come actually.

  3. PART TWO
(And Grrr! I can't believe abby beat me!)

We haven't had anyone else over for dinner :) But I do have the Young Women coming over on Thursday night for a Christmas Activity. Should be a fun night for them, and I wanted to give Brodi a break from always having them at her house. We might do a little bit of Christmas cooking and watch a Christmas movie or two, or start working on decorations for the hall for the ward Christmas party... obviously I actually haven't planned the activity properly yet... but Abby helped me make really cute invitations for the girls last Sunday :)
What else? hmm. I had a really lovely evening on Sunday night actually. I ditched choir practise (I've gone to all the others) and went to a beautiful old cathedral in the city for the Messiah sing-along with Gayle (and Margaret, Hazel and several others from church). Everyone sitting in the cathedral sat in parts and sang, and there were lovely soloists and a beautiful old pipe organ being played by a talented organist. Any family who came along to listen to the concert sat in the balcony lofts to listen. We all actually sounded really good (except for in one song which no one knew!). We went an hour early and sang through a few of the songs and had some tips etc from the conductor (who was excellent!) and then we had a short break before the concert. It was really well planned and was a lot of fun. I just really enjoyed the singing - particularly the halleluiah chorus - although next year I'm DEFINITELY singing soprano :) It's just more fun and 'glorious' to be able to soar up to those high notes. On the upside, I think I finally had the alto part done (impressive since I've never really practised it), and I become somewhat of a hero to all of the ladies sitting around me who sang every note I did just a split second after I did :) We may have re-written a few of the lines... hopefully Handle won't mind :)
The stake choir also sang at a community carols night a few weeks back. The night itself had a really low quality of acts, but it was nice to be there, and be a part of things - I always enjoy any kind of community event. I sang a solo there too, and Jonny and Jessima came up to support me (which was REALLY nice of them). Unfortunately the choir sang a little earlier because a couple of the polititions didn't show up to make their speeches, and so I ended up singing my solo before Jonny and Jessima actually arrived! But that's okay - they got there for the end of the choir, and it's the thought that counts :)
Church is going well Dad. Spoke to Dave last night and he's REALLY grateful that you answered one of his emails (haha) and that you're back on Sunday. I don't think the poor man would make it any longer than that :) I said 'but where's the bouncy, jovial Dave who was all "I'm gonna be the bishop, I'm gonna be the bishop"?'... He tells me that man died. Bethy and I got a roasting from our Relief Society president about not doing our visiting teaching last month (it was a real roasting!), and I suspect we weren't the only ones, so your numbers should be up for December :) And there's a ward Christmas Party on Saturday night that I hadn't planned to attend (I had plans!) until I found out that people in the ward (some of whom are related to me... JAMES) have volunteered me for all kinds of things, so now I have to go! (grrr). I didn't realize until Sister H started dropping off carols sheets and asking me what kind of salad I was bringing that I found out... I'm sort of living in fear about all the other stuff I don't know I'm supposed to be doing!
All in all we're good... but very excited for you to come home. It really doesn't feel too much like Christmas to me this year. But it may have something to do with how hot it is :)

  4. PART THREE

Okay, I have to run - I need to get in to work asap (I know I'm taking a few days off... but I just need to go in for (what I hope will only be) a few hours and sit with S in the editing lab... we're actually really busy at work at the moment!)
Love you all and can't wait to see you. At some point, we really hope someone sends us your flight details, since we're not sure when you're getting home...

    xo Tammy

  6. PPS. Sorry there's apparently no paragraphs in my essay! I copied and pasted into word, and now I see that all the paragraph spaces have been removed... so good luck with that!

  7. PPPS. Abby, Bethy and I went to Jenny's funeral on Monday. It was a really nice service and there were lots of people there. But it was really sad too. My heart just aches for those little girls. I put 'Apologies from Neil and Sandra' in the book next to my name.

  8. PPPPS. Oh, and the missionaries made me give away a pass-along card to a complete stranger! And I did! I prayed before I went shopping a week or two back, and ended up having a lovely experience. I'll have to tell you about it when you get home :)

  9. Hey Mummy!!

I'm soooo glad you went to a doctor!! Honestly it's such a relief to me, as I'm sure it is to you!
Yes, like Tammy said, I've been having dance practises 24/7 and yes, I'm over them!!!!
Honestly it's ridiculous. And because of my licence thing and other reasons such as the fact that they hold practises on Monday nights as well (because they're a bunch of YSA with no family they just all meet together, have a lesson, and then practise) I, of course, don't go. And because my dance partner is the main guy who choreographed it and is teaching it to everyone, he gets annoyed when I'm not there. Talk about annoyance :S lol
The other sad thing about the matter is that I'm still not confident it's even going to be very good. And the more we practise the worse I get! *sigh* Ok, rant over. Thank you for listening.

At the moment I'm just waiting for Tammy to take to me to a committee meeting at Josiah's house. I was going to walk and catch a bus and then hike it to his house but Tammy insisted she wouldn't take very long.....I'm quite late.

I've worked a fair amount these holidays which is good.
Hey guess what! I weighed myself for the first time in a little while yesterday and I was 2 kilo's lighter than I had been! For a moment I thought I was 6 kilo's lighter but that excitement was short lived. Hahaha

    Ooohhh yes..the driveway...hmm.
I think I've said all I have to say on the matter however I might also add ohhh yes...the plants... and ooohhh yes...the grass.

Della Kelly dropped over yesterday with cards for both of us as well as a plate of cupcakes, brownies and other stuff, 3 chinese containers with cake and cream in them, and what looked like a quarter of her big Mouri break loaf. yummmmmmm. I told the others they could eat all the cakes and I would eat the Mouri bread. Unfortunately they protested and I've only gotten to eat about 8/9ths. *sigh* OBVIOUSLY I would have shared with you...such a shame you're not here!!!
(Ok, I'm sorry, that was unnecessarily harsh).

Oh I'm sorry I have to go. Tammy's here now.
Love you lots! The video of Ben cracked me up :)
    Can't wait to see you!!!!!
    Bethy xoxoxoxoxox
(That was just for mum. This is for the rest of you..)

  10. Hey everyone!

I just spent about 30 minutes writing everything we'd been up to, and then Jenna pressed the off button on the computer and I lost it all. I'm not using this as an excuse to not write anything as people often do, i'm just highlighting the effort i'm going to to tell you about us!

I guess you didn't find our post at the end of dad's last entry, or maybe you still thought the details were inadequate. Either way, i'm going to write a lot, detailing everything we've done since we got back from the holiday. I'm sitting here with Jessima, who is looking at her diary telling me what we did. (I love that she is so organised! Not only do we not forget things we need to do, but we can now remember things we've done!!) I won't go over things Jessima has already mentioned in her blog though.

When we got back from Hamilton island, the first thing on the agenda was putting up the Christmas decorations. (See the blog for pictures) As you all know, i'm not real keen on putting up the decorations, but fortunately Jessima was. She made the house pretty, and then I just helped with the tree. It didn't take as long as yours. This could be due to a number of reasons such as:

1 - Our tree is smaller
2 - We have less decorations
3 - We are just super fast and work much more efficiently.

Yeah, i'm leaning towards number 3 as well. Anyways, that ended up being fun, and we almost got Jenna to put the star on top. She was so close, but then got distracted by a giant shiny ball! She's actually taken to the balls in a very strange way. She pulls them off the tree, then she plays with them a bit before putting them under the lounge. "the lounge?" I hear you say "why?" That's a very good question. The answer is I have absolutely no idea! However, every now and again, she'll run over to the lounge, lay down, look at all the balls she's put there, and then laugh histerically. She's such a strange little girl sometimes! No idea where she gets that from...

Anyways, on monday our car started making crazy noises again, so we went back up the coast to take it to the shop. We go up the coast beacuse we can steal Michelles car while ours is away which is very convenient. We stayed up there for a few days as well which was nice. One night they babysat while me a Jenna went out. Hahaha, ok ok, they babysat Jenna and i took Jessima out! (It's a dad joke!..it's like they're taking over my life, I couldn't help it!) Anyways, in true Munro style we went to the movies. We saw 2012. I think it's dangerous to name a movie a date only a couple of years in the future, because in 3 years it will be out of date. People will watch in and say "that's silly, it's 2013 and it didn't happen!" and then nobody will watch it. Like space Oddessy 2001. Anyone who made it to the end without falling asleep will realise that that isn't how it was in 2001, and it's not out of date, and people will stop watching it. The good news is that it wouldn't be a bad thing if people stopped watching either of those movies. I thought the movie was pretty poor. Way too unrealistic. People just aren't that lucky with stuff like that. There were a few cool effects and stuff like that, but not real enough that I walked outside thinking to myself "gee that could happen!" but rather i found myself laughing with Nephi (Reilly - He and naomi just happened to have a date in the same place at the same time) about how silly it was! Despite the poor quality of the movie however, it was nice to get out and have a night to ourselves.

I think it’s time for a new blog entry....to be continued!

  11. Part II

The next weekend is a little blurry (because Jenna ripped out saturday) But we probably had a good time doing it.

The following week was great (for me). James was on holidays as was I, and we used the opportunity to play lots of sports! We had different people there playing with us, but there was lots of tennis, some basketball, a bit of swimming, some ping pong, and touch football. I was a bit wasted by the end of the week, but that was fine, because i'd had so much fun!! All the inbetween times during the week were filled with Jenna's last swimming lesson (see the blog), Jessima's friendship group, some shopping, and Releif Society stuff.

On the saturday, we went to our ward christmas BBQ breakfast which was nice. We ate some food and played some sport. Jessima was feeling a bit weak, so we didn't stay too long, but rather came home and had a bit of a rest. Again, friday and saturday have been eaten by Jenna, so the other details about this weekend are a little fuzzy!

On sunday, we obviously had church, but we also had a baptism at night. It was really nice. A guy that had been inactive for years, got married to his partner a month ago, and he baptised his wife. They have 3 young kids and are really nice. They've come a long way and it was nice to hear their testimonies!

Monday this week was exciting! Jessima had her visiting teachers here in the morning, and then we went over to Steve and Cynthia's. Jessima stayed with Cynnie, Cody, and Jenna, and me Steve and Steve (Parrish) went out for a round of golf. I haven't played since i played with Jason i think, and I thought i would be rusty, but then the first hole I almost got par! I thought it would be a great day, but then i quickly came to the realisation that it was a fluke and i actually was rusty. I messed up pretty bad on the next few to have be about 10 shots behind the pace, but then won the last few to have me only 5 behind by the end of the 9 holes. While definately frustrating at times, we had a great time. Steve Parrish also found a turtle in the middle of the golf course. It doesn't get much more random than that! To make things more interesting, Steve actually has a turtle tank and was wanting to buy one, but they're about $110 each! Talk about a score!!

After the golf we went back to Steve and Cynnie's for a BBQ dinner and some games. Jenna had a fun time chasing the chickens before bed, and then we all had some fun playing the Wii. Turns out I actually am good at bowling (170) and tennis, but my baseball skills were lacking! We had a really nice night.

Yesterday was fairly uneventful. Jessima picked up her new pram which she's very excited about. I like it too, but there may not be enough room for all my balls in the boot anymore!! I'm sure we'll sort it out. In the evening i went home teaching and then came home and watched episode 3 and 4 of Survivor Samoa. I think you'll like it Mum! There are a few interesting characters, as well as the nice, well spoken, well built hardworking black guy! (can i say that?? You always seem to like his type!)

Anyways, now it's wednesday, and you're officially up to date. Jessima is getting fat, but i agree that abby is a lot more obese. Jenna's more and more like a little girl every day, and her hair is getting curlier all the time. We're all looking forward to seeing you home soon, and would love to know when you're getting home so we can sort out our day! have fun in Yellowstone!

    Love Jonny, Jessima and Jenna

  12. PS - Oh i forgot to mention that the driveway is as described! I don't think it's finished though, however i hope they don't finish it until you are here to tell them how to make a driveway look nice. It's like you have to drive over a mountain to get to the garage!

  13. PPS - Dad i forgot to mention that Derek played golf yesterday as well for a work thing. He got 8 under par. I know what you're thinking, but before you bail on our post Christmas golf day, derek was playing Ambrose in a group with a few semi-professionals!

PPPS - Oliver I enjoyed your blog and your video, however you managed to capture everything except bens encounter with the tree! Maybe you guys can do it again except get the whole thing on video!

PPPPS - Watch out for drop bears!!!

  14. Hey Dad,
Just thought you might like a cricket update from the WACA, via runcorn. It was day 1 today, Ricky won the toss, and decided to bat. Watson got caught on 89 (he got out for 96 in the last game), the Ricky came in and got a bad hit to the elbow, and retired hurt after 30 minutes. Then Hussey came in and started up quickly. Katich then got caught on 99, Clarke wasn't in for long and got 11, before Marcus North came in. At stumps, North was on 23 and Hussey on 81 not out. Australia are well an truely in the drivers seat with 3/339, and ponting should be able to come back in to bad if he needs to.

  15. We have been loving your Australian treats--they are quite delicious--a thousand times thank you! I felt worried that you had gotten sick from our boys--my apologies if you had. We adored your visit and can't wait for the day we can make the drip down under to spend some time again!

Much love and enjoy the final days of your trip to the states. Yellowstone--how exciting! I still have never been...

    :)
